About Sakai Hōitsu:

In the late 18th to early 19th centuries, Sakai Hōitsu led the Rinpa movement in Edo (now Tokyo). Inspired by Ogata Kōrin, he compiled the influential "One Hundred Pictures by Kōrin" collection, shaping Rinpa's trajectory. His works, like "Summer and Autumn Grasses," combined Kōrin's elegance with realistic depictions of nature's seasonal changes. Hōitsu's innovations, continued by disciples like Suzuki Kiitsu, revitalized Rinpa, adding depth and dynamism while evolving the tradition.
