Japanese Tatami Yoga Mat: Elegance, Comfort, and Tradition in Every Practice

Experience the elegance and functionality of the Japanese tatami yoga mat, crafted from natural igusa (rush grass) sustainably grown on Kyusho Island in Southern Japan. This mat provides excellent grip for yoga practice, is easy to clean, and includes a non-slip backing for added stability. Measuring 60 x 180 cm (70.5" x 23.5") and 6mm (0.25") thick, it offers comfort and durability for various uses, including meditation or as a runner rug.

The fresh, grassy scent of igusa not only creates a crisp and clean feel but is also proven to enhance concentration and relaxation, serving as a natural air-freshener in Japanese tradition. Highly absorbent, igusa wicks away sweat, absorbs moisture 2.5 times more effectively than cotton, and deodorizes unpleasant odors, making it an ideal companion for any mindful practice. Handcrafted in Japan using domestically sourced materials, this mat seamlessly blends tradition, quality, and practicality.

Care

- Hand Wash Only.
- Residues such as soil, dye, or resin may be present due to natural materials. Wipe the mat 2–3 times with a dry cloth before use. Avoid using a wet cloth.
- Vacuum regularly to maintain cleanliness. If liquid spills, blot immediately without rubbing forcefully.
- Dry the mat outdoors occasionally, ensuring it is placed in the shade. Ensure proper air ventilation indoors to reduce humidity.
- Snapped fibers may create thorns on the surface over time. Trim the thorn at its base using scissors or nail clippers and smooth the area by gently rubbing it with your finger.
